David Kowitz was the co-founder and one of the principal fund managers of Indus Capital Partners.   Founded in 2000, it is one of the largest Asian-based alternative investment managers, with assets of over $6 billion, and offices in New York, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and San Francisco.  He remains non-executive Chairman of the firm, though no longer has active duties there.  He is the founder and CEO of Martello Developments Ltd., a company in the homebuilding and commercial property business.   Mr. Kowitz is a minority shareholder and adviser to a number of other UK businesses, in the areas of hospitality, fine arts and collectibles, and technology.

In addition to his business interests, Mr. Kowitz is active in philanthropic endeavours.  Along with his wife, he manages the affairs of the Fairlight Arts Trust and the Kowitz Family Foundation, which actively support the arts in Sussex and nationally.  They are the principal sponsors of the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition, which has achieved international status.  He is also active in environmental causes and in the area of justice system reform.
